Indianola is the largest city in Warren County and is the 27th largest city in the state of Iowa. The City’s population has grown 10.8% from 2000 to 2007, rising from 12,998 to 14,405. Indianola’s population growth rate is almost four times faster than the state population’s growth rate.

Indianola’s population is projected to continue to rise in the future. In the City’s comprehensive plan the low range projections expect a city population of 15,425, approximately the same as Waukee’s. The population will continue to increase to 17,892 in 2020.
